Looking for Love.

A Park Slope thing:  The memorable 'Dating Bulletin Board' at the Commonwealth Bar.  5th & 12 St.  Yes, the same bar from the neon sign photo I posted before.

Get new eyes

Does you neighborhood ever feel a little blah? A cool trick is to always carry a camera with you, and be on the lookout for something to shoot. You'll be surprised at how it will open your eyes and make you see things that you've glossed over dozens of times. Your neighborhood will feel "new" everyday. As a pleasant side effect your photography skills will improve too.
Try making little photo challenges for yourself. I have an ongoing game where I seek out building corners that are more or less symmetrical. Now I have loads of pictures like the 2 featured above. Also I ride a Bianchi Pista bicycle and photograph every Pista that I see on the street. That may sound silly, but they are by far my most popular pictures.
Leave a comment or email me what you like to shoot. I always LOVE to know what fellow Slopers find interesting.
As the old adage goes: the best camera is the one that you have with you.

PPW bike lane

This is the bi-directional bike lane on Prospect Park West. It's installation necessitated the removal of one lane from car traffic - aggravating a small number of residents. However, it also greatly improved the level of safety for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians.

Commonwealth Bar

A neon bar sign on the window of the Commonwealth Bar, on 5th & 12th St.

During the winter they sell hot apple cider with bourbon or rum.  Highly recommended for a cold night!

Light Curves Ahead...

"Painting with light" is one of the easiest things to do in photography (and one of the most forgiving!) but remains one of the photographic techniques that produces some of the most fascinating results.  This is shot of the entrance to Prospect Expressway on 17th Street between 4th and 5th Ave.

Light Curves Ahead.

Bliss.

This shot is from a couple of years ago.  Just a dog having fun in our dear neighborhood Prospect Park.  I've never really shared this image with anyone, but today seemed like the right day to do it.  It always makes me smile.

Morning snow

Park Slope woke up to a light covering of snow this morning.
