Summer is dead. Long live summer.

While on a photo shoot in Prospect Park, my editor and I came across this downed robin. We held a mini-wake for him - complete with a bouquet of wildflowers and Boyz II Men's Yesterday playing on her iPhone.

Soaped up

Lately I've been interested in taking pictures of ephemeral things. Last night I was walking along 5th Ave and saw this shop window glowing out into the darkness. I was thankful that I ALWAYS have a camera on me.

The Donut Shop

This wonderful classic old time diner has been here for around 34 years and it has probably had as many version of it's name.  This brand new sign has the strange long name of "7th Ave Donuts & Diner".  The previous sign read "Donuts Luncheonette".  The shirts that some employees use read "The Donut Shop" (That's my favorite).  I love this place.  Donuts are pretty good too.   Basically, Dunkin Donuts are crap compared to these.  Try the whole wheat or the baked donut.

Gluten for Punishment

Through the window by the bread section of Union Market. He looked so sad, I mentally named him Jean Valjean :)

Irene.

I thought this blog should have a milemarker for the passing of Hurricane Irene, even if it happened a few weeks ago.  This is the storefront of Odd Twin, a store on 5th Ave.
